On Friday, February 13th, we will be celebrating all of the friendships we have made this year with a Valentine card & treat exchange. We need your help! Please decorate a large shoe-size box with your child to collect their Valentine cards and treats. Be creative and make a house, a car, an animal, a movie character, or anything that you can think of that is unique and fun! Make your project into anything you want! Please remember to leave a slot for mail to be deposited and removed. For those of you who plan to send Valentine's cards and or treats for your students to pass out to friends, we have 20 students in our class this year.
Please make sure your project is at school by Thursday, February 12th. ![]() It's finally here! That time of the year when we start learning how to write in cursive! The kids were so excited when I presented them with their very own cursive licenses earlier this week. Cursive writing workshop is a special time in our class. When we practice our cursive writing, each student has to have his or her cursive license out on the table. If a student is speeding or writing sloppily, they might have their license revoked! I also play "cursive music" or classical piano in the background while students are writing. Our cursive music helps us to relax and concentrate while we are writing. Welcome back from Christmas break! Since we didn't have the opportunity to ring in the new year together on January 1st, we celebrated today on our first day back! Every hour, we opened a bag that had a special surprise inside. We were only allowed to open the bag if our behavior was good. It was a great way to remember all of the rules and routines after being away for a couple of weeks! We also learned all about what a goal or resolution is. We watched this great video featuring Kid President... We also read the book Squirrel's New Year's Resolution. Once we had a grasp of what a resolution is, we came up with New Year's resolutions of our own! Below are some pictures of us with our New Year's resolutions.
