Shiver me timbers!
Here's What's Happening in second grade!
Speaking of writing, we are headed into our second week of writing boot camp. I hope that your student was excited about writing last week and maybe you even got to hear a little bit of our writing chant at home! The kids spent all week brainstorming, writing, editing, revising, and publishing their work. The final project was a fun paper bag book. Keep your eye on your child's mail because those should be coming home on Monday! Right now our writing grades will be based on participation and completion of projects, but as we get into our next unit you will see a more detailed rubric coming home with your child's published writing pieces.
Our very special Matey of the Week will begin next week, so please come back and visit the blog to see who our special person of the week will be! When your child is Matey of the Week, you can find all of the information you need to know by clicking on the "Matey of the Week" tab at the top of this site. Also, our very first homework page will be coming home this Monday, September 26th. Every Monday your child will be bringing home a sharing page that is due the following Friday. For example, this week the sharing page will be due on Friday, September 30th. You can find more info. on sharing pages under the "Parents" tab at the top of this site, but if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
