Also, a shout out to all of the moms & dads who volunteered their time and supplies to make our party a huge success! The kids had a great time and went home with many wonderful memories! Below is another Smilebox slideshow creation with pictures from our party! Wishing you a very merry Christmas and hoping that you have a fun-filled, relaxing, and restful break with family and friends!

It's the day before our Christmas party, yet these second graders are still hard at work! Today we partnered up and completed some I-Spy Math problems. I-Spy problems are on little cards that are placed throughout the room. Each student has a recording sheet and they travel around the room with their partner and answer all of the math problems. It's a great way to use our bodies and brains at the same time! The kids love to get up and move around the room while they work!
This afternoon during science, we continued our study of matter. Today we learned about the particles that make up solids, liquids, and gases. On the far left, we have a solid. Solids have their own shape and are made up of lots of particles packed tightly together. Particles in a solid don't spread out or move much. In the center, we have a liquid. Liquids flow and take the shape of their container. The particles that make up liquids are spaced out a bit more and can move around. On the right, we have a gas. Gases also flow, but they take up the entire shape of their container. Particles that make up gases can spread out and move a lot. Following our demonstration from our solid, liquid, and gas buddies from above, we completed this really fun & fruity "States of Matter" craftivity! The kids did a great job re-creating what they learned about the particles that make up the three different states of matter.
Here are a few adorable pics from the night of the Whiteford Elementary Christmas program! The kids looked great and they sang their little hearts out! We met in the high school chemistry lab before the program, so the kiddos had the pleasure of posing with Mr. Skeleton!
