Today we had the opportunity to attend Bluesapalooza at Monroe County Community College. We joined elementary students from other schools for a rockin' performance from the band "The Wanna Bees." The kids had a great time singing and dancing along to the music! If you want to check out The Wanna Bees, here is a link to their website… http://www.thewannabeesband.com/Bio.html Getting ready for the show! Getting their groove on! A few pre-show selfies!

Today we had our classroom Valentine's Day party and we celebrated all of our special friendships! We made our very own English muffin pizzas... We played "The Love Game" and brushed up on our math skills… After our pizzas came out of the oven, we enjoyed some delicious snacks... Finally, we were able to show off our awesome Valentine's boxes and pass out our Valentine treats!
Things don't always go as planned in second grade! Today we had some fun candy math activities planned, but after we returned to our classroom from visiting Mr. Schreiber at music, our yummy candies were missing! We found a note on the Smart Board from someone named the Sweetheart Snatcher... There was a lot of screaming and excitement as we tried to figure out where our candies might be located. Many of the 2nd graders thought back to Halloween when the Candy Corn Bandit visited our classroom. Were SS and the CCB related? Brother and sister? Maybe cousins? We also found a note on the table from the Sweetheart Snatcher and it looked like she was leading us on a wild scavenger hunt! The Sweetheart Snatcher led us all over the school from our classroom, to the drinking fountain, to the sick room, and finally to the school office. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Hood helped us solve the mystery and find our treat which was hidden in the office! We were finally able to complete our yummy math activities and enjoy a special treat when we were finished with our work. Another day in second grade, another mystery solved!
