News & Notes for the Week of October 2nd
List #3: 2-Letter Blends
I will be introducing Spelling City to the kids on Monday. This is a PAID subscription, so please take advantage of this website and all of the fun games that allow students to practice their spelling words. I assign several games and activities every week and I can check students' progress online. Very cool! User names and passwords came home last week, but I will send another flier home on Monday just in case!

Here's What's Happening in Second Grade!
I hope you have enjoyed the amazing writing that has been coming home from our Writing Boot Camp. The kids have had a phenomenal start to the year and I am excited to continue to help them grow as authors! This week we will be learning some journal writing tips and expectations. We will also learn how to work with our peers to offer constructive and helpful feedback during the revising and editing processes.
During math, we will begin our study of place value. We're going to get very hands-on with out math tools this week to help our visual and kinesthetic learners stay engaged! We'll be learning all about hundreds, tens, and ones, how to write a number in word form, and expanded form {163=100+60+3}.
Last, but not least, I am still looking for volunteers for our guided reading groups on Monday and Friday. If you are available, please scroll down to my last blog post and sign up. We'd LOVE to have you join us!
