With the fog cancellation last Friday, we had to postpone our "Brownie Points" reward until today. Students were challenged to earn 10 brownie points (for good behavior) as a class in order to receive a reward. After reading the story Making Mufins and A Friend, we decided that making and eating muffins would be a great reward! I think Muffin Monday has a great ring to it! The kids enjoyed making both chocolate chip and blueberry muffins and they were able to sample both kinds of muffins. We wrapped up a great day of learning by making our superhero sentence masks. Students had to write a statement or command, an exclamation, and a question to include on their superhero mask. Below are some great pictures of the finished product!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the surprise 3-day weekend due to our fog cancellation on Friday! I just wanted to communicate & let you know that weekly newsletters and homework packets will be coming home on Monday. I would love it if Sharing Pages could be back by Tuesday morning so that we can keep up with our weekly sharing schedule. The remainder of the homework packet will still be due on Friday, October 3rd. Enjoy the remainder of this beautiful Sunday & I will see everyone tomorrow!
Here she is! Our very first Superhero of the Week! This little sweetie will be our official Superhero of the Week for the week of September 29th. Please make sure to check the newsletter and blog each week to see when your child will be the Superhero. There are special activities each day that your child will get to take part in. Please make your best effort to participate in this special week for your child! If you would like more information on Superhero of the Week, please visit the tab at the top of this web page.
Today during our math lesson we discussed "Partnership Principles" or guidelines for working cooperatively with a partner. The students were able to test out their newly learned skills by playing Number Line Squeeze with a partner! Some of our guidelines include: be kind, be polite, share, take turns, respond to your partner, listen to your partner, speak quietly, and help your partner. All of the students did a great job with this activity!
Greetings, parents and students! I am so excited to welcome you to our first day of the 2014-2015 school year! I just wanted to communicate with you about several reminders that I have for you. First of all, if you have not done so, please sign up for Remind 101 using the code that I sent home in the open house packet. Also, please scroll down to the next post on my blog and fill out the holiday party volunteer form. I will also be collecting Time for Kids money this week and the paperwork that was sent home at open house. Please make sure to return the purple emergency cards as soon as possible. Below is a picture of a "Take Home Folder" that will come home with your child every night. Please check this folder nightly and make sure to return it the next day. Thanks so much for all of your help. I know that this time of year can be hectic as we settle back into a routine and I appreciate everything that you do to make your child's education a priority!
