Today we learned all about the African-American holiday of Kwanzaa. We watched these two great video clips that helped us to understand how Kwanzaa came about and how it is celebrated each year. We made these awesome bracelets to help us remember the seven principles of Kwanzaa and the seven candles that light the Kinara. Because I was in the Christmas mood, or maybe just feeling a little Christmas crazy, I let the kids wrap up the day by writing their spelling words in shaving cream to practice for our test tomorrow! On the bright side, the tables got a very thorough cleaning and the room smelled great! The best part of all was the smiles on their faces. I think they all really enjoyed this activity!

Thanks for the comment! We had some leftover shaving cream from one of our holiday projects, so this was a fun way to use it up!
