After several conversations with the kids and seeing the positive impact that these flexible seating options have had on the students, we've decided that we'd like to add one more seating option to our classroom for this year. The plan is to lower one of our student tables and allow students to sit on comfy pillows around the table, while still having a solid workspace to complete their work. The comfy pillows, pictured below, are made of squeezable foam and have machine-washable covers...perfect for a classroom of active second graders!
Greetings, second grade families! As many of you know and have seen firsthand, we have been blessed to have a classroom filled with flexible seating options this year. The kids have been able to enjoy two different reading areas with comfy chairs and a couch, lap desks that enable them to move around the room and still have a solid workspace, Hokki Stools that allow them to wiggle while they work, and bouncy Bands attached to the chairs that allow them to quietly bounce and kick the day away without disturbing their peers. The Hokki Stools and Bouncy Bands both came to us through grant opportunities through Donor's Choose. We would be so honored and thankful if you would consider supporting this project and passing this along to anyone who you think might be interested in making a donation in the name of your student. Our last project was funded by donors from New Jersey, Texas, and generous second grade families. It was so neat to see friends and families of students making donations and showing interest in the amazing things that are happening in our classroom. One of our second grade families has already donated and kicked off our current project! If you would like to donate, please click the button below! Some of you might be wondering what the big deal is with flexible seating. I was hoping you would ask! I'm including a link to a great article titled, "Why the 21st Century Classroom May Remind You of Starbucks," that will help you understand a little bit more about why flexible seating works in the classroom and why I am so passionate about offering students a CHOICE! If you have any questions about flexible seating, please feel free to submit them below and I will address them via a special blog post. As always, thank you for your support!

Love this! Is there any further contributions needed? I missed the window earlier.
