We began our Thanksgiving week by sharing our Thankful Plateful projects. Below are the students and their beautiful projects that they worked very hard to create! It was great to hear of all the things that these sweet second graders are thankful for. I am thankful for each one of them and their families! We have had a wonderful start to the year and I am looking forward to much more fun & learning together! We also read about the history of Thanksgiving in our Time for Kids magazines. TFK is such a great resource to use in the classroom for non-fiction reading. When you pay for your child's subscription at the beginning of the school year, these are the great learning opportunities that your child gets to experience! We learned about the first Thanksgiving, the voyage that the pilgrims took on the Mayflower from Plymouth, England to Plymouth Colony in America, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We also learned how to read a recipe for "Yumm-kin Pumpkin Dip" and we were able to taste the yummy pumpkin creation! We wrapped up our fun-filled day with Thanksgiving learning centers. Our week may be short, but it is jam-packed with learning, fun, and memory-making!
