We're Learning So Much...It's Scary!
Here's What's Happening In Second Grade!
During reader's workshop, we'll be learning all about MLK Jr. We'll be digging in to some great nonfiction texts and locating facts about this civil rights leader. Students will be making an awesome lap book to display all of the new things that they learn about MLK Jr. throughout the week.
During the next few weeks, math will be all about money. This week we will review the different types of coins and focus on counting coins. We will learn a fun new way to count coins called "Hairy Money." I will post a video clip below so that you have an idea what we are learning in class and it will give you some tips on how to help your student with the tricky skill of counting coins. If you have a few minutes at home, pull out a pile of change and allow your child to identify, sort, and count the coins for you. It's always fun to show off our new learning!
