We're Learning So Much..It's Scary!
Here's What's Happening in Second Grade!
During writer's workshop, we will begin a new opinion writing project. We'll be reading a book called Hey Little Ant by Philip M. Hoose. Students will have to decide if they are Team Ant or Team Kid and we will write an opinion piece providing reasons from the character's point of view.
I am hoping to finally wrap up our money unit on Monday with a Celebration of Learning! Students will have an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of their money skills before we move on to measurement. Students who still need help with their money skills will receive intervention throughout the week. Later in the week, we will begin working on measurement with a focus on measuring in inches, feet, and yards. I've got many engaging and hands-on activities for the students to participate in that they're sure to love!
Our Valentine's Day class party will be on Thursday, February 14th from 10:00am-12:00pm. Students will be making Love Monster Bags in class to hold all of their Valentine's goodies, so students will not need to bring in a box or bag from home. If you signed up to donate items for our party, you are welcome to send all non-perishable items in as soon as possible. Other items can be sent in the morning of the party. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me! A BIG thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who volunteered to send things in and help us out on party day. We appreciate you and couldn't make this fun day happen without your generosity!
