IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! IT'S SECOND GRADE!
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MRS. BRUNT'S CLASS!
We've got another busy week planned in second grade! Hopefully your child communicated to you that we have a math test this week. We will take our math test on Wednesday and we will also take a cumulative test on Thursday to review learning that has taken place throughout the year. The kids have been working very hard during our math time, so I am anticipating some positive results from our two celebrations of learning! The unit 6 math review came home in your child's homework packet on Friday and is due Monday for credit. If it arrives on Monday, your child earns the points for the assignment. If it is late, no points will be awarded.
One of the things that might have been confusing on the math review is the section on partial sums. We just had a lesson on partial sums on Friday and it is difficult to understand, but I want the kids to understand that it is another strategy that they can use to help solve multi-digit addition problems. Using this strategy helps them to develop a number sense and to break the problem down into hundreds, tens, and ones. Here's a Home Link document to help you better understand this strategy and review with your child!
