IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! IT'S SECOND GRADE!
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MRS. BRUNT'S CLASS!
Coming up next week, we'll be reading a non-fiction text titled Columbus Explores New Lands. We'll be focusing on the skills of summarizing and locating the main idea and details of a text. We'll also continue to work with pronouns and possessive pronouns. Also, we'll be wrapping up our how-to writing on how to brush our teeth and we will begin our very own how-to writing assignments. Last Friday, we used KidBlog to blog about two different ideas that we have about our how-to writing assignment. Ask your child to share their blog post with you and discuss their ideas for their writing next week!
During our math time, we will work on wrapping up unit 7 by the end of the week. Last week, we learned all about and practiced using the U.S. measurement system using inches, feet, and yards. Coming up, we will learn about the metric system and practice using centimeters and meters. We will also generate and represent data and explore shape attributes, graphs and measurements. The Home Links are posted above and I highly recommend taking a look at these quick lessons with your child to reinforce what we are learning in class. Please watch for the unit 7 review to come home next Friday, April 15th. The review will be due on Monday!
