IT'S A BIRD! IT'S A PLANE! IT'S SECOND GRADE!
HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN MRS. BRUNT'S CLASS!
Our story this week is The Moon. We'll be reviewing contractions, learning about compound words, and continuing to work on our how-to writing assignments. Speaking of how-to writing, have you seen your child's "How to Brush My Teeth" writing assignment? Some came home on Friday and the rest will make their way home on Monday. They are AMAZING! I'm so impressed at the writing abilities of this group of kiddos. They've got the basics of punctuation and capitalization down and we've really been able to work on hooking our read with a great introduction and including some juicy details in our writing. You should be proud of your little second grade author! I know I am!
Math will be all about geometry. Lots of hands-on activities to come this week as we explore different kinds of 2D and 3D shapes. During science, we are beginning the study of matter. We'll spend a few weeks on this topic because there are so many fun, hands-on experiments that we can do. Hopefully we'll be able to spend some time outside conducting some of our experiments. There might be a mini explosion in our future! I can't wait!
Last, but not least, the kids have earned another "Brownie Point" reward as a class. They have voted and the results are in! Everyone has chosen to have a movie-pajama-stuffed animal party on Friday afternoon. I've got to hand it to them, they sure know how to cram multiple rewards into one afternoon! Haha! So, this Friday, April 29th, the kids can wear jammies to school and can bring ONE stuffed animal to snuggle with while we watch our movie. I will provide the popcorn! If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an e-mail. I always look forward to talking with you!
