Here's What's Happening in Second Grade!
During writer's workshop we will continue with our final how-to writing piece. For this project, we will combine science and writing with a fun STEAM {Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math} writing activity. Students will be solving the problem of what to do with a cardboard box. We'll be brainstorming different ways that we can transform our boxes into something special and useful and then writing a how-to piece that our reader could follow to recreate our project. To give you an idea and a little inspiration for our project, go ahead and watch this video clip below...
In other news, we'll be learning about double and triple-digit subtration with and without regrouping, pronouns, and a fun science investigation that has to do with the white "stuff" inside a baby diaper! Our story for the week is Alexander Who Used To Be Rich Last Sunday and we'll be discussing how we can learn lessons from a text. We'll also make some text connections by learning about famous magician Harry Houdini!
