Here's What's Happening in Second Grade!
We're continuing to learn about multiplication this week with arrays and many engaging games, crafts, and activities. We'll have a little assessment during the week to check in and see how everyone is doing before diving deeper into this new skill.
During writer's workshop we finally get to begin writing our own poetry. We've spent several weeks reading poetry and learning about some amazing poets, but now it's time for us to be the authors! We'll begin this week by writing a poem about popcorn using our five senses.
Our story for the week is The Three Javelinas. This is a version of "The Three Little Pigs and The Big Bad Wolf." This version is set in the Southwest and we will learn how the setting affects the story. We will compare and contrast this story with the traditional version of the story and students will have an opportunity to rewrite this classic children's story using a setting of their choice. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
