Here's What's Happening in Second Grade!
During writer's workshop, we will be wrapping up our final how-to writing project. This week we will focus on editing revising by making sure our writing has simple and compound sentences, capitalization, punctuation, correct spelling, and is written in sequential order. On Friday, we will share our writing and our box projects with a "Brown Box Museum." Students will have the opportunity to view all of the projects and share positive feedback with their classmates.
During the next few weeks, math will be all about money. This week we will review the different types of coins and focus on counting coins. We will learn a fun new way to count coins called "Hairy Money." I will post a video clip below so that you have an idea what we are learning in class and it will give you some tips on how to help your student with the tricky skill of counting coins.
