We've spent the last week wrapping up unit 4 in our Everyday Math curriculum. A review came home on Friday and is due on Monday, February 1st. This is a homework assignment and is worth 10 points. If your child returns the review, they will earn 10 points. If they do not return the review on Monday, they will receive no credit for the assignment. Thanks for reviewing with your child this weekend and helping them to prepare for the test on Monday! We will also be taking a middle-of-the-year math assessment on Tuesday to make sure we are on the right track. I'm hoping to have all of the tests graded and sent home by the end of the week so you can check your child's progress!
Last week, we began our penguin research in the computer lab. We also had a chance to spend some time on the iPads this past Friday wrapping up our research. Together with a partner, students are researching a specific penguin and will be presenting their research to the class. This is a great way for us to incorporate science and technology, practice non-fiction reading and writing, and work on our public speaking skills!
Our story this week will be Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type. We will learn about the relationship between cause and effect and we will also review visualizing or creating a picture in our minds about what we have read. We will also learn about combining sentences and we'll review different types of sentence punctuation.
